Recently Cinema4D released a massive update which included a host of new particle simulation tools.   I’ve been spending the past week or so diving into them, learning not only about particle sims but also broadening my knowledge of Cinema4D.     While learning is important, I also like to have something to put on my desktop for my efforts.   This piece was created using both the particle system and C4D’s Pyro volume simulation tools.     

It was a fun challenge to use moving particles to create a static image and I hope you enjoy this first effort.     It’s a powerful tool and I hope to make more interesting projects as my skills improve!

Spring Eternal (Moonlight)

I hadn’t planned on making a night version of “Spring Eternal” but there were many requests for one.   I should probably come to expect that whenever I make a bright image folks are going to want a darker companion version.   It’s fine though because darker versions are fun to make and I enjoy them on my desktop as much as you do 🙂

Spring is definitely in the air in my neck of the woods and that always puts me in the mood for a springtime render.  I really enjoy living in a place with four distinct seasons and one of my favorite times of year is when all the plants wake up from their winter slumber.   Every day there’s something new to see.    I’ve tried my best to capture those emergent colors and the feeling of rebirth here and I hope you enjoy it!

Path of Totality

I was fortunate to witness a total solar eclipse with Jessie and the kids in 2017 and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.   What I remember the most was how large and detailed the corona appeared in the sky.   Easily the largest thing outside our atmosphere I’ve ever seen.    Now another eclipse is imminent here in the States (on April 8) and I’m hoping to see that one too.   Weather permitting, totality is only a couple of hours drive from my home.   A few Members requested I create an eclipse themed wallpaper and I thought that was a great idea.

I tried something a bit different with the corona here and  I know it’s not entirely realistic looking.   I wanted to use Cinema4D’s pyro system to create something hyper-detailed and stylized and I hope you don’t mind the license on my part.
