Dear Ryan, I've heard tell the good die young. At 67 myself, I can tell you that your father died young; and it's confirmed through the work you do which he supports. What father wouldn't? I will continue to be a speaking pro Digital and pray you receive peace and joy. As for sad, you're right: that's for you to know and there is no hurry. Respectfully, dtobias |

I am sorry sorry for your family's loss, although I know your father is watching you and you will all be re-united. You certainly made the right decision to move your family and allow the generations to develop deep love through regular, relaxed contact; not just holidays or vacations. |

I just saw this this morning after renewing my membership. :( I'm so sorry. Losing loved ones is the hardest thing that we have to deal with. Cherish the memories you have and smile in reflection. I'm sure he's very very proud of you and the way the beauty of your art has touched so many people. Take care and gods bless. |

Ryan, deepest sympathy for your loss of your father. I hope all the blessings he brought to you and your family will offer you some true consolation. |

I know how you feel, Ryan, I lost my father back in 2008 and then my Mom last year in March. It's like losing your anchor, your bedrock, your definition of who you are, a lot of things. I still lose sleep over it at night. Cherish your wife and son, they're your life itself. My condolences, man. It's hard, but stay strong and keep your head high. Who knows? The pain of your loss might even inspire you to greater heights. |
||

I offer you my deepest sympathy at the loss of your father. I too have lost my father and it's a very hard thing. I'm glad that your son brings so much joy to you and your family. |

I'm sorry you have lost your father. The loss of a family member is almost never an easy experience. However, I'm quite certain that he was grateful for the last 8 years with you and your family. In the end, all we really have is family. |
||
Mike M |
Reconnecting with you father may have made his passing harder on you, but I am sure it made his last few years better for him. All you can ask for at the end is to have your loved ones at your side. |

Ryan, your Dad looks like Randy Newman in this picture :-) |

You'll always have your memories Ryan nobody can take them away and although I'm not religious I believe that loved ones live on in us. |

I grew up in East Dubuque and currently live in Virginia. Family is important especially when you have kids! I have a 2 year old and video chat has become very important in keeping him connected with his grandparents, but it is no substitute for face to face interaction. You have my sympathies. |

We moved out here to the Midwest in 2002 and my Dad died in 2009. My regret is that I didn't get to spend enough time with him in those last 7 years. Family trumps everything. |

Chef Mike! |
First; my condolences for your loss. Strength to you and your family. I was born in Oakland, Ca., but when my father's wrestling career moved to Chicago when I was 4, we settled in Indianapolis. I spent all of my school years in Indy, (except a brief move to New Orleans). When I became a chef, I returned home to California for 11 years and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now; I've been back in Indy since 1999. At heart; I have two homes and always will, but the Mid-West will always be my first choice. Especially... for my children! - Chef Michael J. Arakawa! - |

My heart goes out to you for your loss. It is always hard losing someone you love, someone you are close to. I lost my grandmother for over two years ago and the pain is still there. I saw her in the morning, we talked over the phone in the afternoon and two hours later she had a stroke. Two agonising days after that she was gone. Ironically, during that last telephone call she said she felt anxious for something unknown and I tried to sooth her, telling that everything is going to be just fine... The two most important lessons from that time was to spend as much time as you can with the loved ones as you can, before it's too late, and to not let grief stop you from doing what you love after the passing, not to put your life on hold. Take courage for your sake and for the sake of the family around you. |
||
SaltyPeppa |
My condolences, even though I know from experience that that doesn't mean much. I/my family lost my grandfather three months back. Like with you, it was very sudden. We went out in the morning...and by 11am he was dead. He just...fell over and died. At least it was quick. So, yeah. I know and understand and feel your pain with you. Treasure these moments with all your family, sharing memories and feelings. I know its hard now, coping with raw emotions. But you'll treasure this time with them later down the track. Best of wishes going forward. |

Dear Ryan, it is so sad to read of yours sudden loss. I am sitting in front of my monitor and tears ran over my face for a man I have not known. Maybe it is because of your words written down in your first shock. This words tells much of your love and respect for your father. It is hard loosing a beloved person so abruptly. No words can help at the first days, but I hope time will come that you and your family can handle this blow of fate. I hope that all the good and maybe some sad memory’s will help you and your family over that hard time. And isn't it great, that your last words to your father, were words of love? My thoughts and prayers for you, your family and your father |

Losing someone as cool as your dad seems to have been is an awful thing, even more so when it's sudden. It's so wonderful though, that you gave your boys the time to get to know him, and make so many happy memories that they'll cherish as they grow up. Not knowing if you're a hugger or not, I'm *still* sending some your way. Since you're from a big family, I'm inclined to think that you're getting lots already, which rocks. Family is THE BEST. |
||

Words can never express how sorry it is to hear that someone has lost a loved one. I hope that you and your family have a life time of good, warm memories of your father. Best wishes to you and your family in this sad time. |

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your father. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose someone so close in such a sudden way. I pray that you would find comfort in the last words of love that you spoke to him, and in his having been proud of you. The things you say about your family in your posts on this site have always been encouraging and inspiring to me, because of the love that they reflect. I hope I can also maintain such good relationships with my family while we are all here on this earth. I think that is a sign of a life well lived. |

I know how you feel having lost all of my grandparents. I don't post often but I thought this was a noteworthy thing to post about. It does suck losing a loved one but you have to remember that they would want you to think and remember about the good times ya'll had together. Don't ever dwell on the bad, cause if you do, it will only bring sadness. Try your best to remember the best times you had with him. That is the only and best way to preserve his memory for you and those who knew him well. Best of wishes. TJ |
