Hello, I just wanted to say that I've been a member for almost a year... and I have now signed up for your life-time membership! Regardless of whether you continue to provide this service "for the rest of m life" matters very little to me... what matters is that work like yours deserves to be recognized! Well job and +1 life-time member! |

I know you are doing this probably as a business decision to attract renewals to up to life membership. In today's economy we all have to understand reason for financial changes in things for whatever personal or business reasons. I hope members realize this is your career and how you support your family. I wouldn't be surprised if you had kept it at $99 for both new and renewal because it's well worth it. Heck I would be glad to keep paying $20-25 a year for life just to support you more than a one time $99. I recently upped for 2 years and gave a little extra as my appreciation to your work. I will continue to renew and maybe someday do the lifetime. |

Hey Ryan, I've been a lifetime member for a very long time now (actually twice, I lost/forgot my previous username in a move). If this keeps the great art coming then fantastic. Steve =8-) |

Hi Ryan, my renewal is up in a few months, and ill be taking the lifetime membership at the new price :) Definetly worth paying for more, but at this price its a steal :) great stuff. |

I love this one. I'm also curious to see what it would look like in glaring sunlight..... |

Interesting business move. I have been a yearly subscriber for over five years now (I think - I lost track). I consistantly renew my yearly subscription because I don't have $100 laying around when my renewal becomes due. Lowering the price may change that and convert me to a life time member. I am curious though, when running the books, which member category is more profitable, the life-time or the yearly? I have always assumed the yearly, but after reading this thread, I am wondering if my theory is flawed. |

I have been paying the yearly renewal price for several years. This past time I decided that I would go ahead and use the lifetime option. It is a BARGAIN at the old price and will be even more so at the new price. Please go ahead and keep my difference as a small token for the enjoyment you have given me over the last ten years... -Dave |

I'm glad you've enjoyed your Membership thus far and I really appreciate your support! As for whether this is a good or bad decision, it really will come down to if more people choose to renew for life when the time comes. If the same number of people (or less) chose the Lifetime option I will most likely change the price back. |

Well I won't comment on the good or bad of the decision, but I know I've already received enough joy out of the lifetime membership, to have made it more than worthwhile. |

Thanks for the concern everyone. Yes, of course business is down this year. I'm pretty sure it's down for most businesses though and my problems aren't any different. I am only lowering the price for the Lifetime Renewal option. It's still $99 for first time Members. I just didn't think that renewing Members should pay the same price as first timers. Basically I was either going to raise the $99 price for non-Members or lower it for renewals. I chose to lower the rate for renewals. The $99 price seems to work pretty well for new signups and I didn't want to raise it any further. For those who think the price is too cheap, I do offer the option of adding an amount to the renewal payment (as a gift or donation) so you can pay whatever you think it's worth. I just want the base price to be affordable for people and I want as many Members as possible ;-) |

Tyler, if he gave a free month to all potential members, they would just download all the backgrounds they were interested in and leave...so that wouldn't be a good idea. I for one am happy he lowered the lifetime rate and have given it more thought because of the price drop. |

I really don't think lowering the price of a lifetime membership is a good idea. I bought mine a year or two back for $99. Definitely worth it. If anything, the lifetime should be MORE expensive. I can't see why you would be lowering the price. If anything, lower the price of the yearly...or give a month free, or something...that would potentially attract new subscribers. But making a lifetime cheaper...just doesn't make sense, especially as we see prices rising across the board, you're going to take a hit by allowing a one-time cheap payment... Hope that makes sense, we just are looking out for the best for you and the future of Digital Blasphemy. |

For such lifetime, the price should have been at least $150+ IMO. |

I can't help feeling that $85 is too cheap. $99 was cheap. Lifetime membership is a nice concept for people that admire your work, but it doesn't make a lot of business sense in the long run - esp. not with a low price. I bought this some years ago and haven't regretted it. I think rasing the price may be a better way to go if you need money. Or looking for another business model. You are doing great work! |

Ryan, I have spoken with you before about this very subject and undoubtedly this is a problematic decision, but one that I hope proves to be fiscally intuitive and monetarily beneficial over time. I've long thought that you work is exceptional and worthy of a far higher price (though I myself, have continued to periodically use the year-length subscription). Keep up the good work and I hope this price change spurs more interest and generates a lot more customers for you. |

Well, I can understand the pros and cons of dropping the price of the membership - I bought my lifetime membership about 2 years ago and it's been completely worth it! Ryans work gets better and better, I've already written a testimonial urging any visitor to give their support, you really wont find (well, I've yet to come across) anyone on the web who delivers such an amazing 'service' - the dedication, passion for perfection and personal interaction is fantastic! So anyone who's not got a lifetime membership should take up this offer! |

I have to say I also double a yearly subscription, as I think Ryans work is very much worth it. I ust hope Ryan is just trying to "drum up" more people to his site, and not drop his price due to funding/economic issues. To Ryan: This being my first post, I love your work and I send people to your website (and will continue to do so) every time people see my desktops with your work on it. |

Are you in need of funds Ryan? I can't understand the price drop in today's economy. Of course I am one of the members that are happy to keep paying my yearly subscription each year to keep your funds coming in. |
