i wish my windows vista ultimate would be perfect all the time! no machine is perfection it self and no machine can work forever without maintenance... or my favorite maintenance => upgrade! =) like any awesome artist does -> if YOU don't like your work nor it is ready at the point of perfection THAT YOU want it..THEN DON'T release it! is your name at stake! your rep! to be perfectionist is not a crime .. but a virtude! take your time! no sweat! make those wallpapers hypnotize anyone who passes by my pc.... =P rendering takes ages!! but the result in the end is a sweet view for the eyes! |

Ryan I thought it was very interesting when you first enabled feedback. Historically only established critics could make comments that would reach the ears of the artist. Some critics have even stabbed themselves in the foot by criticizing artists who already were or later became giants in their fields. But now in this digital age anyone can criticize with anonymity. I think the whining about delays is ridiculous. As far as criticisms go, perhaps read Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Self-Reliance" - one of my faves :) |

These things happen. I work on PC's for a living, and it seems that when you don't have anything in particular for them to do, they run fine, but when you have a project that you want to complete, then they decide to crash and burn. Murphy's law of PC's I guess ;) Good luck w/ the render, and hope you're enjoying some time off. |

You may have been "only able to collect about three works" since you became a member, but that only refers to NEW works. Have you looked through the rest of the collections? There are hundreds of different wallpapers, all for the taking (or saving, as it were) if you are a paying member. |
||

I have a small membership with DB, I love your art work or I would not become a member, Now that I am a member for about four months, I have only been able to collect about three works of art, Do we not get a least one work of art a month or is this rate of production common? |

Thank you Ryan in advance!!!! Can't wait for the next piece!!! Besides there is enough Art on this site that I am never without a new discovery. Just searching through the hundreds of images always brings me a new find. It's like getting a new render when ever I want!! Keep on keeping on Ryan. You are fantastic! And enjoy you trip! We will be here when you return!! :) Thank you! |

You can't make a computer render any faster than it is. Thanks for trying your hardest, and I look forward to this QUALITY piece. |

Take your time man, enjoy the trip and don't pay these wankers any attention. I mean really, the sub is so small that I don't even notice it when it's time to renew, I just immediately resubscribe and that's that. If people are getting worked up about you not "producing" enough to make them feel like their 15 bucks was well spent, they can take a hike and we'll be the better for it. Looking forward to your new work ;) |

Go on and leave then. The rest of us use the comment forum as constructive critisism, not for attacks. Besides we all have no problem waiting for images that are great. Why should Ryan put up images that he isn't happy with. I didn't pay for quanitity, I payed for quality! |

We know you're a hard worker, you don't have anything to prove here. :) You've always been worth the wait for images. |

If you take a pie out of the oven too soon because you are anxious to eat it - you are going to be disappointed when it is not done. The same goes with this artwork. I have always found the images well worth any wait. We all know that detailed PC work can be tedious. Take your time Ryan - don't feel like you have to account for every delay. As others have said - your fans will be here who really care about and enjoy your work. |

You're paying for the privilege to have access to Ryan's work, which usually averages two new wallpapers a month, give or take. If you're paying by the year, that comes out to a little over $1 per wallpaper. A bargain, IMO, considering the quality of the work in question. Whatever Ryan does with the money we pay him as members is NONE of your business, and he would have been well within his rights to tell you that (though he chose otherwise). The most unfortunate aspect of the internet is that the anonymity it provides tends to increase the likelihood of 'douche-y' behavior. Keep doing what you're doing, Ryan, we'll still be here. |

You have enough images that I change my wallpaper Every week or so... It's not like I'm running out of Images or anything. Started getting my Scuba certification, so I switched it up to "Flight of the Hammerheads" Anyway, I won't lie that I was disappointed that the blue screen of death ate your last render (at least it didn't eat your multi-screen enshrouded! lol) but I think it is something that anyone who has had the computer eat one of their papers, mess up as you're getting to an interesting part of a game, or that girl you've been trying to catch her attention finally IMs you & the comp dies. It's all good ;) You could start putting up the first render of a project knowing it will go straight to the pickle jar up. Just put a post with it saying the things that you are changing in the next render so nobody can tell YOU how it's done... I mean if you go through the render time you might as well let us have a peek ;) Then don't worry about all of the different screen resolutions, just the 5 or 6 that you use for pickle jar images. It'll make the people who are impatient happy & it'll keep the rest of us drooling for the final version. The most important part is... YOU are in charge so you know what is best for your art so you make the final decisions and don't lower your standards for any of us. :) |

I've been a member for many years, was an annual member for a while, then I bought a lifetime. I don't comment very often, but this has caused me to comment. Don't let the negative people get you down. Creativity takes time, and the complainers wouldn't be happy even if you posted a new fantastic render every day. Let them drop by the wayside, and focus on your core fans. A true fan won't complain about the delay, as the delay makes the finished piece even better. Ask any musician about when and how they release new material. They usually won't release sub-standard work. I know I never did. Just my $.02 |

Ryan, I can understand the tendency to focus in on the small number of negative comments, but just know that your loyal fans will be here for you, eagerly waiting on your next piece of amazing work. No matter what website one looks at, there's always going to be trolls. Don't let them get you down! Greg in KC |

It's frustrating for me too. There's a number of factors at play in the amount of work I post, but I am afraid the number one thing that keeps me from posting fast is that since I have started soliciting ratings and comments I have become a lot more conscious about what I put in the gallery. I would say each image goes through two or three extra renders just because I have become a perfectionist. There can be a hundred positive posts but I will always fixate on the one or two negative ones. I wonder if I should just disable feedback. I do enjoy reading the comments and getting ideas for possible tweaks but I wonder if it is the best thing overall. I'm not paying for this trip BTW, and anyone who is dissatisfied with their Member has the option to let it lapse and then renew at the same discounted rate when there are enough new images in the gallery to justify the expense. I certainly don't want to be seen as cheating anyone. I plan on speeding things up in the near future. I have a few different projects going at once, but I can only render one at a time since the "Enshrouded" multi-screen is monopolizing my secondary renderer. Maybe I need a tertiary renderer... |

Enjoy your trip with our money and no updates for a month. |

Lol Ryan, best you didn't mention anything about a lightning strike :) |

You haven't done any fractal stuff for ages - how about a quickie to tie us over ;) |

That sucks dude. I can't say how many times that has happened to me. I have to agree with Jason. Some people just don't get it or give a crap. I've been a paying member for years and while I noticed some longer waits, I know it's because you put more detail into the work. And that just makes the wait that much more worth it. Disregard those kindergartners who say they love your work then whine about it for no apparent reason other than they didn't get what THEY want. Keep up the good work Ryan. Have fun on your trip too. |

It seems as though this annoying little bug turned your wonderful art into a horrible flaming pile of crap. This should be called a "catastrophic error". If it's known I'm sure irate emails from paying customers might get their attention, and maybe a fix. In an off-note, could ya throw the image into the pickle jar, no matter how far-off from the intended vision would be? Even for a laugh... |
||
Slizbury |
maybe you could throw an abstract or two into the mix, as we haven't seen any this year and I think those tend to render faster right? That's the basis of my thought anyway, that they render faster and you could put them up without as much worry about the render crashing. Anywayz, looking forward to seeing this new one when it's done! |
||

It's such a bummer when something you've poured your heart and soul into gets messed up because of a bug in the software. (a very expensive piece of software i'm sure). You make some of the best and most complex 3D art in the WORLD, and while us techies understand when a 50 hr render goes bad through no fault of your own, there's not much you can do but start it over. Some people just don't get it, and they apparently expect you to post work that isn't completed yet. Or maybe they don't realize that you aren't a corporation and you are the ONLY one working on these beautiful pieces of art. Please don't let the negative comments of some get you down. Your true fans will wait patiently for your newest pieces. |

Hey. I know this may come off as a complaint, but first let me say that I LOVE your work. I look forward to each and every piece that you release. Your work is fantastic! With that being said, as a paying member, I'm a bit frustrated at the lack of new art on a regular basis. To be honest, it seems we get excuse after excuse. I was just told by an art teacher today that there really is no excuse for late work (except for medical emergency or natural disaster). The teacher further added that if I were a paid artist and had late work, I would either be docked pay or fired. I'm wondering at what point do I give up on this site and go elsewhere. Are you just losing motivation for this site? I seem to recall a new wallpaper fairly regularly in the past. Now, it seems we get maybe 2 a month. That just doesn't seem like enough. Sorry for the rant. I just get frustrated when I see a posting of yet another delay of work that I love to view. Alex |

It does hurt when you're doing something that requires a lot of time and then just goes wrong when it's about to complete. Just bang the PC and blame the cat lol. |
