So,
I was really intrigued and sort of excited when I saw the commercials for Bing of people spouting off random phrases that contain keywords. I have long grown tired search engines doing that.
I was very disappointed to find that Bing is no different than any other search engine, except... that it's worse at what it does than Google. On about 10 different searches, I found what I was looking for at Google, when I didn't find it at Bing. Instead, Bing returned pages and pages of items unrelated to my search, other than keywords.
Isn't it against the law to advertise features that aren't a part of what you sell? Oh wait. I didn't pay for it. My bad.

Ha! Love it, RSA. And truly, it's not. My Bing searches never match the wealth of info I get from Google. Plus I like their freebie apps. Too, I don't recall Microsoft ever declaring a desire not to be evil. Quite the reverse. |

I use yahoo mostly just because I have yahoo mail and it opens up when I open my browser... also have a gmail but I still use my yahoo one. The google search bar on firefox is google so that gets used a lot. Both work fine (is yahoo still powered by google?), I'll have to try bing out... |

Ry,
What are you doing? You are referring to Google as G*? Come on! Get a pair and learn your place in this world! You create some of the best wallpapers on the internet and you come off as some little pansy who's afraid to OFFEND anyone.

Altavista all the way! :)
Actually I used to use Altavista exclusively, but I have grown quite accustomed to Google too. I haven't tried using Bing, so all I can say is that the name is a little odd to me. I am impressed with the way the Google image search features so much of your art. Definitely very different algorithms in use between the two.
My very first contact with Bing was when it came up as the default search provider when I accidentally typoed in some nonsense URL (go figure, "typoed" was supposed to be "typed," but it worked so I'm going with it). My initial thought was "Son of a glitch! Some spyware hijacked my browser settings!" followed by "Stupid Norton didn't stop this from happening!," only to realize after a quick Google search (how ironic) that it was just MS's new thing, that no hijacking had taken place, and that I owed Norton a mental apology (and to be completely fair, I have had no dissatisfying results with their substantially reengineered 2009 product so far). |

'BING Is Not Google' is my preferred version of the acronym. |

I have an issue with Bing because it tries to think for me and tries to show me what it thinks I want. Usually it's not correct.
I prefer Big G since it shows me the most "hit" sites that correspond to my search terms which is usually closer to what I want.
I find when using quotes +'s and -'s I can find exactly what I want in 1 or 2 search requests. I'll stick with the Big G also. |

I like Bing better for various reasons. For one the asthetics are much better. It just seems easier on my eyes and better organized. Google's web results always look like a big random cluster of text to me. Plus I don't really use any of google's other services.
As far as searching your name goes, the image results will probably improve as more people search your name and click on your artwork while passing over the numerous headshots. |

As a self confessed MS Fanboi (Mobile and Desktop), I feel sorry for MS and keep trying to use Bing, but everytime I do, the results are useless, so I have to go back to google. Sorry MS :).

I've yet to do a search on Bing that actually gives me what I want. I always end up going back to G. |

I find Bing better for some searches than the big G. I think the Big G's image search is terrible and the results I get on Bing are far superior. But for text searches, the results are sometimes even, and other times the Big G is better.
I don't recall preferring text search results on Bing ever, at least not by any noticeable margin. |

I think Bing will probably improve over time, as it will take awhile for it to index. So, I would surmise you and DB should come up more prominently in the future - at least I hope so, or MS might have a very rough time competing, if this is just one example of Bing's downside.
I will do my best to try some searches from there, perhaps improving it. But my main search will be G for the foreseeable future. Since I have been using it for years now, it has hit upon DB on a regular basis, just from me. The G index is incredible, it is stunning that we can find things so easily in it, given its size!
There is a market for MS, but they can't just be a second rate search if they want any market share. I wish them luck and keep trying their product! |

I hate when people are talking to me when I'm typing...too many errors.
Below should read like this....
I'd only heard of it for about 2 hours when one of my friends turned to me and said "Oh yeah, you hear what people are already saying about the name 'BING'?" |

I'd only heard of it for about 2 hours when one of my friends turned to me and "Oh yeah, you where what people are already saying about the name 'BING'?"
I looked at him, and said, I only just heard /of/ it let alone anything about it.
With a huge grin he says "Within hours of launch, people already started saying BING stood for'But It's Not Google'"

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm searching different kinds of things or something but I've generally found that Bing has a higher chance of giving me better results.
In any case though it's good someone is giving google a serious run for their money, there hasn't been anyone who could for awhile. |

I'm with you Brian, I'll stick with G. Maybe I'm dense or something, but Bing just doesn't show me anything more relevant to my searches than any other search engine. |

If you use any of the Big G's services, and don't log out of them, then they definitely know who you are when you search. On the other hand, I just searched your name on them (both logged in and logged out), and the results were pretty similar to what you describe. |
