I'm a big reader and a big fan of history. I love the Dark Tower series by Steven King.
Thanks to your Temple I'm now reading A Game of Thrones and I'm in love with the book. It seems to combine my love of history with an epic fantasy tale.
I can't stop thinking about Ghost for some reason. |

Those are totally awesome books! I've read each I think 2-3 times each. I am waiting for the next one like every other fan of the series. I hear its also supposed to be turned into an HBO series! That will be interesting to see, if it turns out to be true. |

Hi Ryan. Long-time fan, first-time commentor. Speaking of inspiration for your work, Haiku has long been one of my favorites. I recently came across this photo from National Geographic of a mountain path that Basho, the famous Japanese Haiku poet, actually walked down hundreds of years ago. I was struck by its beauty and I thought it might be perfect inspiration for another great DB image. It is part of an amazing article as well. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

In addition to the inherent awesomeness of this creation, it is interesting because I too am re-reading the series at the moment. This is the second time I have read it, and I am almost through the second book! So unfortunately I hadn't made it to the passage that provided the inspiration for this work. But it will definitely leap off the page at me when I do get there. ;) They are great books! |

I just hope that they don't do to Song of Fire and Ice what was done to the Sword of Truth series. Legend of the Seeker (currently airing) is supposed to be based on the sword of truth, but they change so much of the story that you can't even tell the commonalities beyond the names of people and the generalities of events that are thrown completely out of order. They change whether people are wizards; they change how weapons work; they change what entire groups of people do; they change who has died when; etc. Horrid. |

It is an Excellent Series... I'm kind-of scared to see what HBO does with it once they start shooting for the series!
I really hope that George R R Martin can keep his word this time and have A Dance With Dragons out in September!
What other fantasy series do you keep up with? |

@RC: I completely agree.
I'll definitively remeber this picture next time I read the series. Thanks Ryan for giving me a clue about Mereen. |

Great series. Found the 4th book a bit slow though. Can't wait for the 5th when the characters I like better reappear.
I remember that scene in the book with Daenerys, but I'm afraid I don't remember the description of the pyramid. I was probably paying attention to other parts of the setting :) |

I am reading that now! I haver not read that part of the book yet, but when I saw the picture I was thinking, "this sounds like something Daenerys would want. I wonder if it is Song of Fire and Ice ..." So good job, you manifested the feel of the book spot on! |
