Description
This was my first crack at what was to become my iconic blue
mushrooms. I modeled these using Lightwave 5 as an exercise
with the lathe tool, then exported them into Bryce for this
render (I was still big into Bryce at the time).
By the time Lightwave 6 had come out, I was more comfortable
rendering scenes in Lightwave itself and I did a new version of
the mushrooms. Perhaps
you’ve seen it…

I loved these so much and used it as my only Wallpaper. This was the image that brought my awareness to Digital Blasphemy and I’ve been here ever since. Hard to believe it’s been 21 years.

I have admired this piece since the first time I saw it. It is still as fantastic as it was in the beginning – and each variation was awesome as well. This is when something can be so simple and so amazing at the same time.

I used this image a lot. I mostly like the space themed images but these mushrooms were great.

Thanks for sharing this early version!

LOL totally agree with chris and was thinking almost the exact same words… far too long have I made due with the low res or the free version of this masterpiece.

FINALLY! THANK YOU for rendering this for the iPads 3 and 4!!!

Ryan, this is one of your finest and, believe me, most popular. I remember this when it first came out in the free gallery. Ten years later, I’m now a member. I also like your newer, translucent version of Fluorescence, but this one’s my favorite. It’s been one of my more frequently used backgrounds for these 10 years, and it’s great to have it now in 1600×1200.

The picture that brought me to DB in the first place, will always be one of my favorites.

I have kept a version of this wallpaper on every computer I have owned since it’s birth.
This is how I know which of the people that come to my house are cool.
I have had the cable guy, the landscaper, the paper boy, and a nurse all scream “Great, Digital Blasphemy!”
It has prompted me to upgrade my computer several times to see it at it’s finest

Seen a few versions of these fluorescent mushrooms, but this will always be my favourite, awsome!
