This piece is dedicated to the memory of my Mother who passed away on 5/23/2025. The song “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley was always a favorite of hers and I fondly remember her singing “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright” to my kids when they were little.
Mom had a very rough time during her last few years but music was always a refuge for her. She is in a much better place now but I still miss her dearly. It will take a while before my memories of her bring me joy rather than sadness but I know it will come with time.

Happy Friday! Here’s a night version of my 2025 “Endless Blue” update. I went more minimal here, whereas the 2014 night version had multiple moons, puffy cumulus and glowing plankton in the surf. Here I thought the focus should stay on the island and the firelit rocks (though I did experiment with the glowing surf).
Hope you enjoy it. Ready to move on to new projects now!

I knew I wanted to create an night version of my new “Endless Blue” render (and still plan to) but I also wanted to create a version that takes the scene in an entirely new direction. Not sure if this version will stay in the gallery or go in the Pickle Jar but wanted to share it nonetheless.
Let me know what you think!

The first “Endless Blue” has always been a favorite “tropical” render. It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since I created it!
I did a revised version in 2014 but looking back that version strayed a bit from the mission of the original; to provide “endless blue”. I’d added puffy cumulus clouds and the water had a greener cast to it. For this update I wanted to make a revision that stayed truer to the original while also taking advantage of my upgraded toolset. I hope you enjoy it!

I’d started this piece before my Mom passed but have been very busy in the days since. I took some time yesterday to apply the finishing touches and do the final render. It felt really good to work on creating something and I’m looking forward to getting back on schedule in the weeks ahead. Ian and Jason are living together in Peoria this summer working internships for Caterpillar so I should have plenty of time for artwork.
As usually happens when I create some outer space phenomenon, I like to also render a view from the ground. Normally I include an ocean or water of some kind but I opted here for waves of a different kind. It’s a minimal scene but I like how it turned out. Hope you all enjoy it too!
