Flow State

Sorry it’s taking me a bit longer to post new work these past few weeks. Learning some new stuff and that always takes longer than sticking with software like VUE that I know like the back of my hand.

Following on the Cinema 4D particle work I did with “Supernova” I took things in a different direction to create something more abstract.    The goal here was pretty simple, create something colorful and fun for your desktop with both large structure to draw the eye from a distance but also small details here and there to invite closer inspection.    I intend to play with this theme for a little while so be on the lookout for more versions in the Pickle Jar 🙂

Hope you enjoy it!

Supernova

Expanding my understanding of Cinema4D’s particle and Pyro systems here by attempting to simulate one of the most violent phenomena in the Universe:  the supernova.  The main challenge was to render something that is incalculably bright as something you could have on your desktop and look at without feeling blinded.   The goal was to update “Nova” from 2001 but I think it turned out quite different and is distinctive on its own.   Hope you enjoy it!

EDIT (5/5/25): I took some of the feedback from my first version, made some changes, and am much happier with this updated render.   Let me know what you think!

Reawakening (Night)

I knew folks would want to see a night version of “Reawakening” but I really wanted to add some more light to the scene to illuminate the trees from below (in addition to the moonlight from above).     After some experimentation I settled on the same strategy I used for “Sakura (Night)” and added some floating lanterns to the creek.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments on this piece.   I’m glad you enjoy it!

Reawakening

Happy Sunday to you all!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Spring render that was unabashedly blooming and colorful.   The goal here was simply to fill every pixel with colorful new life and sunshine.   After a long winter I really needed something bright, warm and alive on my desktop.   I hope you enjoy it too!

Dreamcatcher (Glow)

As mentioned yesterday, here’s one last version of “Dreamcatcher”. It’s a “night” version for those of you who prefer dark and glowy desktops.

It’s in the Pickle Jar for now but help me decide which version I should feature in the gallery!
