Here’s an alternate version of “Passel” that I designed, furthering my study of how to texture cloned objects using Redshift in Cinema4D. Oddly enough, I discovered that the colors shook out differently in the multiscreen version than the single-screen version I initially rendered. I decided to go with the different versions rather than cropping the multiscreen because I liked the colors in the single-screen more.
A lot of folks suggested I do a “blue version” or some other monochromatic look but I thought it would be interesting to do a multicolored version. (I may add those monochromatic versions later.) I’ve also given the objects a bit of more of a glassy look.
Hope you like it!

Learning to use Cinema4D’s Cloth simulation here. My C4D/Redshift license is up for renewal in December and I have until then to decide whether it’s worth spending $1265 for another year or simply switch to Blender (which is free). The more I use C4D (and even if I use Blender) the more I see myself maybe needed a new machine in the near future that is more of a GPU renderer. Rochallor is very much built for CPU rendering (which is how I render using VUE).
Either way I hope you guys have enjoyed the abstracts and space imagery I’ve created with it so far. Let me know what you think!

Quite a few folks requested a full-night version of “Afterglow“. I’ve backed off on the clouds here and filled the sky with as many stars as I could to (hopefully) provide a bit of light and contrast for the foreground elements.
I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Friday!
I’ve been using VUE for my landscape renders for nearly 25 years now and it’s become like an old friend. Sadly, I learned earlier this year that further development is being abandoned. The software will still work for the time being but no new features will be added. Happily though, one of the last new features the developers included was a new “Smart Clouds” mode which accomplished some things that I’ve wanted to try for a long time.
This piece, otherwise a very basic tropical beach scene like you’ve seen before in my gallery, is an exploration of those new clouds in conjunction with VUE’s unique “spherical scene” mode where the sky is lit from below the horizon. I think it’s a beautiful sky but unfortunately the render times are astronomical (even on Rochallor). I hope you enjoy it!
