I don’t set a lot of my renders at midday because the lighting is usually pretty harsh and the shadows are few. If I was going to create a midday version of this scene I decided to add a little variety in the sky. Most of these time-of-day variations will end up in the Pickle Jar but I did want to feature them in my gallery to start.

I haven’t really committed to doing a full time-of-day sequence for this scene but I did think it looked nice with a bit more sun. The fog from the earlier pickle jar render is still here but burned off a bit 🙂
Should I do more??

A few days ago I opened the scene file for Red and Gold (created way back in 2008 using Vue 6) on Rochallor with the idea of a minor update. I ended up completely redesigning the tree in Plant Factory (the first was pretty but was a horrible hack) and adding all new foliage in the pasture (based on the autumn wildflowers in my neighborhood actually). I also brought a tiny bit of color to the sky 🙂
Not really an update but not totally new either. Not just “red and gold” anymore either hence the new title 🙂
Plant Factory gives me a lot more control over where the the foliage so I can do a lot more with this scene than I could with the original. I hope you enjoy it!

A number of folks mentioned that “Pageantry (Night)” was “spooky” enough for Halloween but I wanted to go a little further in that direction. I’d initially had this in the Pickle Jar but perhaps it is suitable for the Halloween gallery??

I haven’t committed to making a full dynamic series of “Pageantry” yet but I did want to at least create a night version. The challenge here was to preserve a bit of the color from the original in the foreground while still having something interesting to look at out in the darkness. It is an Autumn scene after all.
I decided to add a bit of light being the viewer (and cabin or campfire maybe) to brighten things up a bit. Let me know if you think I’ve succeeded or not.
