We recently returned from visiting Jessie's family in beautiful Little Rock, Arkansas. Her brother's family lives by a pond and we all walked over one afternoon so the boys could go fishing. While they fished I wandered off and noticed this bright white bird (some sort of heron) standing in red watergrass against a green background. I thought it was a striking scene so I snapped a mental picture of it for later. I hope you like my version.

Thanks to my son Jason for helping me think of a proper title!

"The Warden!"
Blue herons are absolutely my favorite bird, but other varieties come in second! My mom and I have a favorite book character, a heron who calls himself the Warden and oversees a fen, and this is absolutely perfect.

Your works so often remind me of books, even when you couldn't possibly have meant them to!

"Nailed It"
This is stupendous, whilst not some stunning planetscape or blazing intergalactic phenomenon, it IS bleedin' perfect. Sometimes simple beauty is impressive enough.

"Down on the bayou"
I like it. Different from most of your other vistas, but it makes a nice companion piece to "Last Gold."

"pickle jar?"
Great work! Stunning light, colors and atmosphere. Would love to see a pickle jar version without the bird. Then I would give it a 10.

"Mistwood Fen"
Truly awesome! Looks like a photo, but with extra dimension. Love the colors, and the water looks very real. Great job! Also, tell Jason that he thought of a perfect title for this project.

I really love the inclusion of wildlife, especially as prevalent as it is. Outstanding, more like this!

"I want be be there!!"
Spectacular! Rich in colour, composition, and perspective. I just wish I was rowing in a boat with that image as my POV.

"Misty Mistwood"
Your mental camera works very well, Ryan. I particularly like the misty woods in the background. This brings back happy memories of late summer excursions to secluded streams and rivers.

Understated vegetation, beautiful light, and a unique focal point. The only thing bugging me is that tree, the one with most light on its trunk... its bark pattern looks stretched, and its shape at the top looks artificial. Doesn't seem to belong in the same scene as the exquisitely detailed wader.

An excellent work of art! Everything blends so well together, and as a previous review says - serene and peaceful.
