Snowy Creek Springtime from the 2007 gallery (Ryan, Digital Blasphemy). The promise of Spring is not a promise of Spring. Spring is our Mother's birth time, the season for new beginnings. If the human race would heed the messages and symbolism of Mother's cycles, of her season for new beginnings, what a beautiful acknowledgment to our Mother that would be.

With the right musich this pic is perfect to relax!

I think an autumn version would round out the snowy creek series just fine. Just an idea for later in the future.

I love this piece! With compuerized images there is no absolute because of the changing technology, but with this period's capabilities, I think you have done a great job. Forget the negitive responses, because most of them could not *&%^$#@!!. Realize this is beautiful, therre is alot of realistic textures here & many people feel good when they see it. Keep up the good work. PS, this is my favorite of all your work!

I love this set of images, Ryan, but you've still got some work to do on this one for me...

The new water level is great, much much better, but there's still not much impression of flow or movement - and even in meadowland this far below the mountains, a creek in spring would be muscling along pretty dam fast! Looking at the river near my house, what gives a hint of the speed of its movement is where there are rocks just protruding from the surface, because the water has to gush round them, and it creates a little hump (if I can say that) and breaker just behind the rock, and big swirl patterns just downstream of it. Also in Spring there is always debris being swept downstream - twigs, leaves, branches, dead grass, dead sheep, all that :-)- and it gets caught in the rocks and the water drags at it and creates more visual clues to its own speed and force.

But never mind the water! What really bugs me about this image is the vivid baize-green grass and electric lighting. OK, this place isn't real and I could push off and get a photo off Google Images if I wanted a photo, but the lighting on the foreground meadowland just seems wrong to me - the background is muted light, mist, hanging cloud, and that goes for the stream itself as well - but the foreground foliage lighting just jars to me. It's too uniform, too bright - it would work, I think, if you had bright sunlight glancing off the water as well, but you don't, the water is lit in a very muted fashion and is reflecting a grey day with a lot of cloud...

So you have done this same scene at Christmas, Spring and Winter, you need a fall one to balance it out.

This is great. I'm proablly going to put this on my destktop now that you have a tri-screen version. Also it just looks so nice. This only thing is the water which looks a little too static. It's okay becaus I know how increadablly hard water is to render when it isn't moving so I really think you did a good job.

Got to admit I'd been put off by recent images as I freely admit I'm not really an abstract or space fan but your Spring version of Snowy Creek has resotred my faith. The multiscreen version is stunning. Nicely done!

Hey Ryan, Great Job as usual. I like the re-render. The higher water levels have greatly enhanced the overall pic. I do agree that some additional flow indication would increase the naturalness (can I say that?) or effect of the whole piece. Some additional turbulence due the underlying rocks would work nice. I've seen this a lot in the mountain valleys of New Hampshire. Been a member like two or three years now, and this may be my first comment, but I'm still lovin' your work! Keep it up!

I really like this version. Perhaps one last change you could make would be to make the water a glacial blue? It would fit logically with the huge mountains in the background...

I truly like this one Ryan. Thank you for the extra effort. I just wish I was someplace as bright and spring like right now! Another inch of snow last night ... I am soooooo ready for warmer weather!

You know, I came to watch this piece of art 5 or 6 times, and had nothing to comment on.

I usually have something to say but this is just... well.... a lovely postcard.

I mean, it is beautiful and all that, but watching all the last pieces (which are all as usual nice), i found myself missing the ones with Poser models in them - the ones that tell a deeper story.

Am I the only one missing that?

I think the new version looks MUCH better...when I first saw the old one, it looked kinda funky, this one actually looks like a nice river and stream with lush banks, etc...nice work on revising it!

I really prefer the higher water levels as well, feels much more spring-like with the snowmelt pushing streams up their banks. You can almost feel the nip leaving the air as you look at this.



With images like this the water seems too still - no obvious indication of flow. Might consider that for future images - or if you're just dying to re-render this one!

I like the brighter greens by the creek in this version but I liked the lower water level of the old version.



The purple flowers are okay but I think I would like yellow, red or something between better.

Your first rendering is great but I do love the added water. The colors are awesome and the mountains are fantastic. Keep up the Great Work Ryan!!

The water looks very real and now it matches the feel of the mountains much more. It feels more fresh and icy. Wonderful work.

So glad the moss is gone... I just kept imagining the stench coming from a place with that much moss/algae/scum..... Yikes!

I really love this particular piece of scenery, and I'm glad it's made a springtime comeback.



The colors really pop, and the water is very well done, as well as the clouds. It's also nice to see the mountains in the background.



The only thing that keeps this from being a 10 is that there is some graininess, like it was taken with a new film camera with a great lens, professional skill, and some mediocre film. Other than that, this is another excellent piece.

I don't care for the bluer cast to the mountains, though. A little judicious cut-and-paste fixes that for me :-)

This new version is great for its improvements in realism! And as I've said before, I also love the original (in the picklejar) for its fantastical nature. Very well done!

Very nice, I like this a lot. The rasied water makes a big difference as before it did seem quite dark. It looks like quite a fast swell, would be good to canoe it :)

I actually enjoy the other one better ;). But I'm glad it's in the picklejar and still available to nab!

The higher, rougher water in the stream really gives the impression that the melted water is rushing off the mountains in the distance.

Also the fact that the green is broken up by the water is great; as is the fact that the stream now leads the eye all the way back to the mountains.

Beautiful composition, I love it!

Not to say that there was anything wrong with the image originally, but it is better now, flowers look more natural, and the creek is much better. I am looking forward to your multimonitor ones.
