Description

Nothing too fancy or outrageous here; just my first attempt at modeling and rendering a planet in Blender 2.9. I’d had a very quick process for creating planets in Ligtwave but Blender has a whole new system. I plan on using the planet as a backdrop but found it made a nice wallpaper by itself so I’ve added it to the gallery. Rendered using Cycles.

Stay tuned for a another view or two 🙂

    I didn’t care for this one at first. It’s rather plain, but in retrospect, I think its redeemed by its masterful form and sort of ghostly atmosphere.

    I’m probably wasting my time asking this but could we get a green pickle jar version of this a la Thetis (2001). I’ve been wanting to see that beautiful green planet revisited.

    Absolutely fantastic!

    Planetscapes have always been a keen interest of mine, this one is really Stunning. Awesome Render.

    Stunning. Absolutely stunning. It makes me think of some distant Saturnian gas giant orbiting a distant star somewhere in the Universe. Perhaps there might even be liquid water underneath the surface of one or more of its moons. And perhaps, that could mean life somewhere else in the Universe.

    Absolutely stunning.

    I’ve always been a huge fan or your planetscapes! Another epic render

    I really enjoyed the multi-screen variants as it really brings out the idea of being in space so much more. This is one of your best planetscapes in my opinion. Nicely done!

    @eyalh – Yup, I’ll have to disagree w/ ya on this one. While I also work mostly on the left screen, it’s nice having a few images focused on the left. So for the times I work on the right monitor, this one is a WINNER!

    @Ryan Great image!

    Fantastic planetary image!

    The only thing that slightly bothers me is the fact that my dual screen’s main monitor is the one on the left, so I prefer the important features of the image to be on the right side of the scene (so it will be visible more, when I’m working). But I understand that probably half of the population won’t agree with me… 🙂

    It may not be “fancy”, but I think that it’s great! I tend to really enjoy your more minimalistic wallpapers the most. Clean and easy, yet not longing for detail!

    A simple planetscape is exactly that the doctor ordered. The glow coming off this planet is hypnotic. Absolutely adore the color. Instantly set this one after rocking Erebus for a long time.

    I love this but I have to note: Isn’t Amalthea one of Jupiter’s moons…? [or was “Amatheia” an intentional variance? Just curious, not meaning to pick. I love your work!]
