Description
I own a MacBook Pro which I use for “light work” while my main machines are rendering. I really should have picked up a Windows notebook, because I have all kinds of problems running Vue and Lightwave through Boot Camp. It crashes constantly!
One program that does work is Mandelbulber. I created this fractal while my main machines were busy with “The Gardener” and “Gotham Garden (Winter)”. I “finished” it and rendered at 7680 x 4800 on Bucephalus.
The term “Archaea” refers to a group of single-celled organisms similar to bacteria.

I really like the original, it’s fun to look at. The dual-screen viewpoint is missing something though. The shape of the central piece isn’t visible; kind of a shortcut to get the dualscreen published I guess.
Scott
Excellent piece!
Carlos
It’s one of those renders that actually grows on you (no pun intended).
But I agree, I would like to see some color variations (the rainbow suggestion that ChrisSpera came up with sounds good.
As always Love your work and I look forward to what you will come up with for 2012.
All the best to you and your family.
Dustin
The multiscreens came out great! Zooming in takes care of any bezel issues and really shows off the detail on a large viewing are.

The dual and triple screens for The Gardener and Archaea are missing from the dual/triple screen wallpaper pages (http://digitalblasphemy.com/dualscreen/dualscreen1.shtml and http://digitalblasphemy.com/triscreen/triscreen1.shtml). Why?
ChrisSpera
Getting this in different colors or even a rainbow of colors in the same render might be interesting. This almost looks “dead.” Having something that reacted more with light, with different colors might bring more life to the shot. Just a thought

Please give us more 🙂

No need to apologize! I’ve learned to live with the varied response to my abstract work.
hurtzDonut
Sorry about the double post!
hurtzDonut
I am sorry, 99% of your work I love but this is in the 1%.

Okay, you turned it on it’s side. Nice “twist”! Very cool Ryan.
Cheers!
Val
kinda reminds me of Eufloria if you were to look at the asteroid in real life

If you zoom out on these I hope it’s in a hot spring like Prismatic Pool and not a human colon. Just saying 😉

You are dishing out a nice variety of images Keep them coming! I think I’m going to play Spore now 🙂

And this one does not disappoint.

Me too, Littlemom. I don’t always go for the microscopic images. I will never choose to gaze at anything overly gooey or hairy (lol) or anything that resembles a bug on my desktop. But, this one is different to me. It has glowy, pretty colors and an appealing design and seems to represent “good bacteria.” 🙂
Dustin
These are the wallpapers I wait for! I love the detail in the individual “nodes”, and the depth of field effect works quite nicely.
I’ll be using this as soon as the dual screen version is released.
Nelson
Wooow! Great abstract! Love it 🙂
Deanna
Love the color and design on this. Do you plan to make a FB Timeline for this one? 🙂 Thank you!
Getwired
Dude, this is awesome. I LOVE your more abstract work, and this is gorgeous! Please consider posting a multiscreen LOSSLESS version of this…would make my setup soooo happy. Speaking of “happy”, Happy New Year, Ryan! 😉
AdenToom
I’d like this to go double screen…
Jeff
Love these kinds of wallpaper … Keep ’em coming!!!!!

Ryan, I have a dinosaur of a 2007 MacBook Pro, and it runs Lightwave 3D 9.6, .Vue Infinite 6, and Poser Pro for OSX without any problems. Upgrading these to the latest Mac versions would cost about the same as buying a new MacBook Pro, but some day…
There are trial versions of Vue available. Have you tried it out on the OSX side? It may not be a 1:1 experience, but it may be more stable than Bootcamp.
betsey
love the blue!!!
Tyler
Totally reminds me of the Sentinels in the real world. Almost as if this is how they spawned in one explosive manifestation. Absolutely love this 😉
Geoff
Love it! Triggers my imagination.
Jeff K
But I like it! Very cool image.
Gregor
Hey Ryan! Thanks for this great image, I love this sort of images where you cannot tell for sure whether the scale is very large or small. Okay, for this particular one you mentioned single-celled organisms, so it’s not that hard to decide… but that’s not the point. You also mentioned a MacBook Pro and you seem not too satisfied with it… um, if you want to get rid of it, just give me a call… 😉 Just kidding, thanks again for the upload and keep on creating great pieces of inspiration and imagination!
Geep
It looks so real, I can almost imagine little bacteria wandering around in the picture, which is just a bit creepy. But its also really cool the level of detail you’ve made, and wow, it is just amazing! 🙂
Eric
1st Comment – Woot!
Another Great Image – Not sure how you’re gonna do 2x & 3x thou!
Cheers!

Ryan, I find this to be similar to some previous work, but at the same time it is very unique and quite special.
Maybe it’s because this one looks like a living organism.
Were you going for something like that?
(I guess from the title you were)
Richard
I like these type of images. I can sit and stare at them for hours!
Littlemom
this render reminds me of a cell or something inside the human body, just not my thing but look forward to your next render though

How come the db640x480 archive doesn’t include anything after dec 2009?
can we get an updated zip?
