Description
I recently finished the excellent “Red Rising Trilogy” by Pierce Brown and I was inspired by his vision of a terraformed Mars to create this piece. I used Vue d’Esprit’s “spherical” terrains and dug deep into the cloud editor to create this render.
There was one location from the books in particular that I wanted to recreate and this piece could be considered a warmup for that 🙂 I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve always loved these kind of renders, they transport me away, in this case, to another planet

At first glance it is interesting enough to click deeper. The 3440×1440 (21:9) render is awesome! So much detail. I love how the mountains nearly poke out of the martian atmosphere. This one is deep!
And I love the reference to Red Rising. I can’t wait to see “that particular location from the books” that you want to recreate.

I cant stop staring!! My eye are glued to the screen. It is just so BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, under Windows 7 the only option to make it span monitors is to use the “Tile” option and when doing so I can only view the top 1/3 of the image. The bottom 2/3 is cut off. That’s why I wait for the dual-screens themselves to come out. 🙂

Ahh! There it its!

My new favorite by a mile

Can’t wait for triple screen version….
Ryan
I’m hoping the dual and triple-screen versions are ready by Monday!
Shannon [liferplus]
Looking forward to the larger resolutions for triple screens. Thanks.

This is really beautiful, Ryan. Thanks! Any chance of a multi-screen render in the near future?!

…as well as the render. I agree that this gets better the closer you look at it. Excellent job.

This will be my new Background for a long time.

The starship can’t wait to land here.

I am reading the trilogy even as we speak, and it is awesome to have a visual to call up while reading.
Josh [lifer]
Love it! Can hardly wait for the triple monitor (at 4k) version!
Amanda [nonmonthly]
This looks kind of straightforward, until you look! Very interesting and wonderful colours to be found, I shall spend a long time looking at this one!
Ryan
Instead of waiting you could download the 3840 x 2160 single screen and span it across both your screens until I can render a proper multiscreen version.

Amazing work as always. I second Jeff’s comment on the dual screen though. I run 3840 X 1080 on dual 22″ monitors. Always sucks to have to wait for the dual screen versions 🙁
Ryan
My apologies! Can I ask what screen res you are running?
Jeff [lifer]
It’s both exciting and a let down when you make new screens. I’m impatient to put the new ones on my system and with dual-screens I have to wait longer.

This world comes with an atmosphere so it looks like a good place to settle down. I’ll stake a plot for my home! Well done!

I love your planetscapes and spacey stuff! This one feels very new to me, I love it!

This is my first time posting, but this piece was so awesome that I had to express it! You do such great work and I can’t wait to see a multi-screen format of this. Just awesome!

fantastic!

Your space images are nearly always my favorite. This one is especially awesome. And I love the Star Trek reference of the name! Can’t wait for the multi-screen versions.

I watched the preview of this and couldn’t quite figure out what it reminded me of – until this morning when you released it with the meaning – and everything went “Click!”. A great trilogy and and even better visualization of the new Mars. Beautiful!
Mike [nonmonthly]
Ever since you went work in progress with this, I’ve been really looking forward to it when class m goes official. Everything fits together awesomely in this image; and I love all the textures and colors that make up the ocean sections. Great job!
PS: your comments are working Ryan. 🙂

Just testing to see if comments work on new posts…
