Description
I mentioned when I first posted “Coda” that I wanted to attempt a winter version of the scene. I also wanted to do a night version of the scene and I felt like that would work better during Winter with the snow all lit up by the moonlight (which comes from a much higher angle in Winter vs Summer). Still, illuminating these night scenes (without artificial light) is always tricky and I went through many variations before arriving at one that I liked. I hope you like it too. Still working on a day version with falling snow…

Wonderful Image. I feel like all my favorites that I use from here are either grey style (like wintery type) or blue nights. Always the best sets.

For me this one I actually prefer over the fall scene (and I love fall scenes) the snowfall softening the details from all the fall leaves, etc.. and makes it easier on the eye and makes the depth of field clearer to where you can tell how far back the background is vs the fore and middle ground objects which was my main issue with fall version, which had so much detail that my focus couldn’t settle (but still a spectacular view) Will be very interested to see how my eyes handle the daylight snow version.. 🙂

With as much as I love the original “Coda”, this one doesn’t feel quite right to me. The main rock formation has a strange texture, and given the lighting, it’s very one-noted. That’s somewhat expected given a winter night scene, but maybe it would speak more to me as a winter day scene; I’m not sure. In any case, though, thank you for taking the time to make this one and to share it with us. Your work is always outstanding, even when it doesn’t speak to me personally.

I see what you mean. The rocks are partially covered in snow so I think that’s what you are seeing. Yes, the lighting is very different from the Autumn version but that’s by design I guess. Thanks for the feedback!
