Happy New Year!! As promised, here’s the night version of “High Country (Winter)“. As always with a night scene, the challenge is to darken the scene without it being too dark. After quite a bit of experimentation I think I’ve settled on the right mix of moonlight and shadow here. I’m still working on a spring version but finding it difficult to populate the scene with enough plants for some reason. Will continue the fight though 🙂

Just…wow. The lighting is amazing in this one. Your work keeps getting better and better — if that’s possible. Thanks, Ryan!

Ryan, your mastery of realism is truly evolving! It’s not often when I can hear and smell artwork – when I look at this I can smell the unmistakable almost metallic smell of snow – I hear the crunching of snow underfoot – breaking the immense silence of the night. I can feel the deep cold and imagine the fluffy dry snow glinting off the moonlight and the quiet whoosh of the wind through the trees. Truly artful!

All my favorite parts in one image. Night time, winter, and a blue color as the primary. Absolutely beautiful.

Incredible picture, though I am a fan of the daytime version. I do appreciate the variation… Happy New Year!

Wonderful scene and wallpaper. Really appreciate the change to avoid the barrel effect on the trees on the edges of the multi-monitor render, makes a huge difference.
