Description

I first attempted a black hole way back in 2001 and here I wanted to do an update that was faithful to the original but also followed what the science of what people think these objects actually look like.   The original, you might say, was inspired by singularity featured in the Disney film “The Black Hole” whereas this version was inspired by the one in “Interstellar“.    Created and rendered using Blender.

I bought 2 ASUS 34″ gaming monitors for myself for Christmas and this is absolutely spectacular on them. Excellent work.

Really nice space object: liked it a lot. I think it would have been better to use a pattern that disappeared into the center rather than just using circles. Black holes suck in everything from the surrounding area. This one apparently is not a very strong black hole as stuff just circles around the hole. That aside, nice job.

Love this! I loved the old black hole-inspired one too, but this update is awesome! Always appreciate your science-based renders, and this one is also just aesthetically beautiful to me. Cheers!

Really enjoy the detail in the rings on this one, you can almost imagine feeling the texture of it. Stunning!

I’ve absolutely been waiting for this! Interstellar is one of my very favorites, so this will have a permanent place in my rotation. Would there be any chance of a pickle jar version with the same golden color from Interstellar?

You did an Interstellar inspired black hole in 2020: Samsara. The description says it is a “Gargantua” type black hole (the name of the star in Interstellar) with foreground inspired by the film Samsara.

I did indeed but this one is a bit more accurate 😄

PS: I also only used that render as a background because I didn’t think it good enough to show “closeup” all by itself 🤔

Such a cool concept, Ryan! I have always enjoyed the original “Singularity” and this is a really interesting update. I like the single-screen, but the triples remove the tilt of the image and they’re also very blurry to me. Love the colour choices, though!

Thanks for the feedback! Sadly it’s always a challenge to frame something like this for triple screens. What works in the taller frame doesn’t work in the wider format.
