Sanctuary

Multi-Screen Render

Over the past couple of years I’ve gotten more and more into flower gardening as a warm-weather hobby. It’s very relaxing and fun to see them flourish. A few nights ago I sat down and started making some flower pots using Plant Factory, which lead to me needing to build an environment for them.

The environment here is fantasy of course but the container garden itself is a little homage to my summertime diversion. Long time fans may recognize the title from this early work…

Created and rendered on Shadowfax and Rochallor. Non-watermarked lossless 8K version is available to Lifetime Supporters and Plus Level Members (and above). Dual and triple-screen versions need a bit of work still.

The Flourish

Multi-Screen Render

I created this abstract in Plant Factory to learn how to do some things with E-On’s function editor that I could only do in Lightwave before. There’s a lot of power there that I haven’t really tapped yet. Be on the lookout for Pickle Jar and/or alternate versions of this one if I am able to some more interesting techniques.

I hope you enjoy it!

Dragon Teeth

I was looking through my old Vue files a few weeks ago on Bucephalus and found this empty canyon that I’d modeled using Zbrush back in the Aughts. Pretty sure I didn’t get around to rendering it at the time because it was going to monopolize my rendering for over a week. The mesas eventually become “Shrouded Desert” but this was my original scene.

Well, the render time only went up when I populated the canyon with trees but I decided that I did not mind since I now have two other machines I can work on. I have quite a few of these old scenes that I never finished so that could be another job for Bucephalus.

Evening Light

Multi-Screen Render

For the night version I played around with changing the light angle, but I think the scene looks best this way. It wasn’t too difficult to convert the sunlight to moonlight. Getting the moonbeams to look right gave me some ideas about tinkering with the morning version actually. We’ll see…

Morning Light (2020)

Multi-Screen Render

My landscape program of choice right now is Vue d’Esprit and my very expensive yearly subscription to their software includes access to a library of excellent plant models specially designed to work with Vue. I usually like to feature plants that I’ve modeled myself but I would be remiss if I did not do a few renders featuring their excellent work. This is one such project, evoking an old favorite from 2000.

What do you think? Should I do more like this? Feel free to discuss here and also on the New Digital Blasphemy Discord Server. Created and rendered on “Shadowfax“.
